Request - Dive - Help

Hey all!

I just moved from one part of Brooklyn to another. This is an incredible thing as I now not only live near the Brooklyn Museum, The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and Prospect Park, but I also now have a back yard with our very own tree, whom we named Harold. My girlfriend Lara and I enjoy naming our plants as if they were pets. I understand this may seem odd, but if you saw the character these plants have then you would understand. We have a Split Leaf Philodendron who is very hearty and gigantic. His/her name is Phyl. We have one of those trees that look like palms which we named Matthew Gerald and we have a banana plant which we named Super D. We also have two giant palm things that refused to accept any names and thus go by the joined and extremely un-clever name of Palms. So now we have Harold and hes a beaut!

What I intend to say is life has been busy but the pay off is immense. So with that said, on to the topic of the day.

I have two things, or three that I am planning. One of these concerns the awesome band Dive from Boston circa the early 90's.
I want to make a somewhat comprehensive post of their stuff. The only problem is the rip of the Moo Cow Records Force Five 7" has an incredibly bad hiccup in the middle of the second song.

Here is the cover of the 7" I am looking for...

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can give me a proper rip of that song, titled "With Forgetting and Reforgetting" or a rip of the whole 7" as it will be consistent. I have the Figure Four records 7", the Moo cow 7" and one song from the awesome Endless Fight Records comp (which you can still download here).

I would also love if anyone would like to share some info or stories of this band as I only know they are awesome and from Boston. I only had the Endless Fight song from back in the day, so my knowledge of this band is lacking at best.

My friend Sean and I are going to see Brainworms and ...Who Calls So Loud (ex Funeral Diner) tomorrow afternoon at ABC No Rio. Should be awesome. Sean also wants me to post some swedish hardcore. So I was thinking of making a post of Abhinanda, Shield, Spawn and Refused. Sparkmarker and Avail to follow.

Hope everyone is well!

Thanks for all the comments. You guys are the best readers on the net!

here you go mang...I only have it in 128kbps, but its better than nothing.
I've had it on my pc for a while now, used to have the 7" back in the day.

I only re-listened to "with forgetting and reforgetting" and it sounded ok.

lemme know if its ok.

*and on a sidenot, I hadn't checked my mediafire acct in a while, I know I had more than 90 albums up there, all the folders are empty, those bastards must have raped em.
damn them.

hey, glad your move went well. The garden sounds cool, I know I wouldn't want to live without one.

I just heard about Who Calls "2/5ths of Funeral Diner" So Loud from sbj's mixtape. I thought it was a bit ordinary at first, but as that song went on it just got progressively better and better.

I suppose, regarding Refused, that you're most into their earlier stuff. I can only really listen to Songs to fan the flame of discontent onward, and that was the heaviest thing in my collection for a long time. I still love listening to them, but discovering NoU takes a lot of the thrill out of The Shape of Punk to Come.

cheers,
gabba

Thanks Papstar! that was a quick fix!
The quality sounds awesome. Better than the one I had.

Gabbagabbahey, I actually only really like Songs to Fan the Flames, but I dont even listen to it much. Just the song The Slayer. They are all right, but my friend and I thought it would round out a Swedish post.

Jay, hows things in Tulsa? I saw Brainworms and Who Calls So Loud last night. The awesome part was Will Killingsworths new band Failures played and they were psychotic!!! Chaotic old school thrashy hardcore. They played for 15 minutes and rocked everyone.

Tulsa's awesome about to go to work (i'm back in a record store! where i belong!) and place an ebullition order. dude the show last night sounds like it was awesome. don't know if you already know this or not, but who calls s o loud is playing again tonight in brooklyn.
on the show front here, i have them booked for late august, and i've got some brainworms in mid july. a few weeks prior we've got pygmy lush and i'm currently working on a few other things, Tonie Joy in tulsa...looks like it's happening (it's been nearly fifteen years since his last run through the t-town), oh and i got a confirmation on a big cats (3/4 of chino horde)show for the summer too. oh and asobi seksu signed to polyvinyl so i will definitely be on tour later this year managing my favorite brooklyn shoegazer unit. NO Rape In 08!

yeah man, that sounds great! it seems like the move was a good thing for you. its also great that you are putting on shows. my friend sean and i (who you met when you were here in NYC) are going to be attempting to write some songs in an avail meets crusty old school hardcore vein. im a bit rusty but its a need that keeps burning in me for years and years now. I figure i should do something about it.

paps, if you go live with jay for the summer, im coming. ^_^

and while i got you here, paps, have you ever found decent rips of the Brainworms/ Dynamite Arrows 7" and Brainworms/ Catalyst 7"??

I bought the newer one last night. Its got some funny ass artwork. And i bought a ridiculous Brainworms tee for $7. sweet. I also grabbed the 2x10" from ...Who Calls So Loud. They were a little sloppy live, but Matt is incredible on drums. I think the rest of the band just wasnt as good as him. But they still were good. No qualms here.

I actually picked up both of those seven inches when I moved to Charlottesville, this friday I am supposed to buy my new record player, when I do, they will be ripped for you. I was surprised to see that the local record store had them, and pretty cheap too. like 3 bucks each. I love the artwork on both of em..crazy shit.

Tulsa does sound great Jay, I just wanna come check out your record store after you have stocked it, gotta be like a hardcore kids dream:P

this is pretty funny - I was looking to see where I could buy the Who Calls So Loud record, and clicked on the "Merchandise" section of their website (www.whocallssoloud.com - part of funeraldiner.com) and it simply says:

::Go to a show and buy a shirt and a record. You will be a lot happier to get out of the house::

of course, the problem is the nearest show is in Manchester in several months. Anybody know a European distro that stocking them, or if Interpunk might possibly be doing them? I haven't even gotten around to using PurePainSugar for the Sinaloa record yet, I'm not up to speed on these underground ways of getting music :)

PS - Hardcore for Nerds 100th post, Reasons to be Emo #100/ Jawbreaker, Dear You is up on my blog now...

it's very Zen ;)

Nice Gabba! I'll check it out. And as far as the ...Who Calls 10"s, they said that when they got to ABC No Rio yesterday there was a box of records waiting for them. So they were psyched because that was the first day they had them for the tour. I know they will be touring for forever, so if you find out about it from the band or Adagio 830 Records that would be best

gabba-definitely go to adagio, currently they are the only ones distributing them period. matt from wcsl is sending me ten copies at the end of the month but rather than deal with ridiculous import charges i will wait, but you should totally jump on that shit. the record looks beautiful from the few pictures i've seen.
tim/paps - you are both welcome to a glorious summer in the oklahoma whenever you damn well please, consider this the invitation.

yeah, it looks easy enough to order it from the Adagio store.

I have only the one 10" in my collection so far (the Grant Hart EP) so to get two of them at once, will be pretty cool!

anybody else here get the Hot Water Music 2xLP? The colours on that are real nice...

when ya gonna post pics of the new place, Blend?

we just rented a place outside of charlottesville, pretty country, but close enough to the city. It's on 3 acres! 2 of em are wooded too, the kids love exploring woods.
there is something to be said about a man having his own backyard!

www.corster.com/figurefour has all the dive stuff and more.

The only requirement is that you email the proprietor and say what is up. Mandatory!
