Dischord, How do I love Thee?

Let me count the ways...

1.

Gray Matter - Food For Thought / Take It Back (1984 - 85)

2.

Dag Nasty - Can I Say / Wig Out at Denkos (1986-87)

3.

Happy Go Licky - Will Play (1987 - 88)

4.

Soulside - Soon Come Happy [Trigger - Bass 103 - Hot Bodi Gram] (1987-89)

5.

Lungfish - Talking Songs for Walking / Necklace of Heads (1989 - 91)

6.

Jawbox - Grippe (1990)

7.

Nation of Ulysses - 13 Point Plan to Destroy America (1991)

8.

Hover - Lurid Traversal of Route 7 (1993)

9.

Fugazi - Live, April 4th 1995, Irving Plaza, NYC

10.

Hoover - New Recordings (1997)

This list could go well over 100. The date on the Fugazi Live Series cover is wrong. The recording is not part of the series, but I didnt feel like photoshopping it out, and it was a nice cover. The dates listed below is the actual date and place.

Dischord records still charges 8 postpaid for LPs and 10 postpaid. You will not find a better priced record company with such quality records...

I am putting in an order next week for the Hoover - New Recordings record, as well as a number of other things. Its been a while since I placed and order to Dischord and they are always so timely...

Everyone of these records above is an absoulute classic.

love.

while you are ordering from dischord, they did some sammich reissues onto cds that still might be available. the first soulside LP "less deep..." and the first shudder to think LP "curses, spells..." that is if you dont already have them. if you dont have them, you should...haha, cuz i said so.

And Beefeater, and Holy Rollers, and Faith/Void split... you are right, this list cannot be short ;)

Great times, great bands. It's a pity that I haven't heard nothing equally exciting from Dischord last years...

Cool post. I reckon I own about 50% of these, and the rest are all on my "must get round to list". But yeah, what about the last ten years of Dischord, 1997-2007? The Hoover reunion was hardly the last classic record they've released!

definitely some classics here. Are you sure Dischord still does postpaid? I'm pretty sure I remember Mr. MacKaye saying something about the postage hike and not being able to keep the postpaid around any longer....

hey while I'm here, have any of you guys heard of a band called 'Just a Fire'? Apparently it consists of members of Abilene, Crownhate Ruin, Hoover, June of 44, Haymarket Riot, and Sweep the Leg Johnny. Don't know how this band missed me.

papstar - i may be wrong about ppd thing...but they prices are still right...

gabba gabba.... funny you noticed the chronilogical order...there are definitely amazing things theyve released...the last fugazi record, french toast, make up, smart went crazy, farquet, the evens, medications, q and not u....the list goes on and on...maybe i will post another chronological from the end of the 90's til now...

the joe lally album is great...

The Joe Lally album is great... its got great artwork too.
Re: papstar, according to the Dischord website they're having to add domestic postage, due to (as I understand it) continuous price hikes from the post office which are impractical to continuously include in the face price. But at least it'll still be cost, and overall still a good deal.
Personally, the last Dischord-ish thing I got wasn't actually from them, but the Brendan Canty 'Burn to Shine' DVD I accidentally found in Tower Records. It has a bunch of performances from (post-1997!) Dischord bands - e.g. Q and Not U, French Toast - solo guitar performances from Ted Leo and BOB MOULD (!!!), plus a burning house. What could be better?

i'll be honest, i actually really dug that first black eyes album on dischord. i was like "wow, something from the kids on dischord!" it reminded me of when nation of ullyses came out and everyone was like "what the fuck is this?!" anyway, my excitement was soon killed as i saw black eyes and they were barely listenable. and the followup album was really painful. oh well. i do love the medications stuff though, thats pretty good stuff.

Oh, yes. First Black Eyes album was great! That's right, you can still find great records from them, but the times when Dischord logo on a record was telling me that I must listen to it because it's almost sure that I'd love it was gone...

The same with Touch and Go, what a pity.

As my friend said last time: "Apparently we are getting older much slower than our beloved record labels" ;)
