Electric Horsemen - EP (2006)

Great Stoner Sludge from Lancaster, PA - Eyehategod, Crowbar, Graves at Sea meet in a bloody death match. No one gets out alive.

Thanks to Brother Butcher for this one. Some of you from PA might know this band, but they bring the hurtin. The music is very sludgy, but it still has the metallic bite and crunch that makes Metal kick so much ass. The vocals are either sung by two people or the guy has a split personality. One side of the vocals as ragged tracheal death that goes very well for the spit-in-your-face breakdowns, and the other side contains an ounce mroe soul, though blackened and evil, as should be the case. The second voice is closer to singing and works especially well with the sludgier, stonier parts. All in all the two sounds, amongst instruments and vocalists, keep the Horsemen from sounding too much like any other Stoner Sludge band.

This is a worthy submission into the sludge realm. Prepare for a beatdown.

Does anyone have all the Ink & Dagger tracks that DID NOT appear on their 3 albums? I believe there were a bunch of tracks only released on 7"s and compilations. I would love to get my hands on them.

Boris and Sludge/ Doom are never off topic for me or for Zen..

I may have everything Boris released...
though I may need some in better quality... I have to check when I am home...

let me know if any of it is rare? maybe we can trade off and complete the collection...

as far as rare Boris, I have the Thing Which Solomon Overlooked I,II & III... all the Merzbow collabos, including the Walrus cover...the Keiji Haino collabo, The Dudley Corp split, the Tomsk split, and the Choukoku No Niwa split...

you should check out aRCHIVE.

they released the Boris Live series and they have great stuff there... really rare and experimental and great design...

Boris - Live at Shimokitazawa Shelter (Black Summer Tour 2003.7.12) DVDA...I'm not sure if I can get the video..I will try. If not, do you want the audio?

also..I just got this too

Boris-Feedbacker-Bootleg-Live-NYC -10.16.04
This DVD audio is a Boris performance taken from a show on October 16, 2004 in New York.
It was limited to 300 copies and sold out in a matter of hours.

I believe I can get the video for this one though

9:17 AM
Blogger blend77 said...

if you can get the video for this one, i would be psyched....

i have Rollo, but i havent listened to it either... i mean, i did quickly, and it seemed interesting, but my girl was around and shes not into experimental stuff.... so i nixed it, and put on something we both like... like Interpol...

yeah, i want Boris on vinyl. I would love Flood or Amplifier Worsjip on vinyl. and i think the Pink vinyl has all extended tracks... Boris is a mindfuck with all their different releases....

i dont know about those Ink and Dagger 7"s... i'll be sure to put them here if i find them, but i was never a huge fan... someone here has to have them though... good luck!

I had mention before about the Crownhate Ruin/Karate 7" split, so this goes out to Blend and Kissmysoundsystem. I spent sometime finding a good way to rip songs out of vynil and I know you Blend, were trying different methods a few weeks ago. My solution was to connect a DV camera between my sound system and my mac, and capture the audio into Final Cut Pro. I think I turned out really good, but if anyone knows of a better way on a mac, please let me know.
So I ripped the Crownhate Ruin/Karate 7" and also another Crownhate Ruin 7" with 2 more songs, a Seein' Red 7" with 8 songs, a Pitchblende/Eggs Split and an Antimony 7" that I had completely forgotten it even existed. Antimony is actually Circus Lupus without Chris Thompson. Their cd was a big disappointment for me when it came out, but the 2 songs on this 7" are pretty cool. I also took pictures of the sleeves and edited the id tags on the mp3s, so feel free to post on your blogs.

I have Soni Youth's Daydream Nation lined up, which should be pretty fucking awesome and also Os Mutantes. Battles were really good. I shot videos of a couple of songs and will post it on youtube sometime this week, I'll keep you posted. I was listening to my rips again just now, and I think the bass on the Crownhate rips got a little too heavy/distorted. I had my equalizer turned off to prevent that, but I think the source is actually mixed a bit too heavy.

Yes, I am looking forward to it, but it's going to be at this big place "the greek theatre", I hate those places. I paid around $30 for my tkt, but it's a good seat. Sister is their best album for me. Daydream is awesome though, just as good with crappy artwork. First time I saw them was when Dirty came out. Have seen them a bunch of times but the last few times I got disaponted with the lack of old material in their set. This time I few like it's a sure-thing.

oh and a few other things...quality control things, if you may

i agree with Papstar... when i started this, i wrote about everything.... i see alot of blogs where people swipe reviews... i dont frown upon this, but the fun of it for me was talking about it... Proven Hollows site is fun because of his stories....

so...

1. write something. i dont care how long. try to describe it, compare it to other bands, write a poem, write ajoke, write a memory... whatever you like, but it comes from you.

2. i like album art. its the othe thing i was exicted about. i get bummed when i cant find good album art. try to keep all album art 300 x 300... i realize its hard to find some of the art for this stuff. so just do you best... 200 x 200 will work if its gonna look shitty at 300...

3. no racist comments or youre out.

^_^

you like that last rule? i wanted 3 cuz its the cosmic number.. but im serious.. i will not tolerate racism... nor do i think any of you are like that, but i dont know any of you so dont suprise me....

thats it... im sending them right now.. you will have to set up a gmail account (free)...

talk to ya tomorrow...

accepted genres...

Punk
Hardcore
Doom
Sludge
Stoner
Death Metal
Post-Rock
Indie Rock
Avant-Garde
Drum and Bass
Folk
Classic Rock
Ambient
Jazz

Iffy Genres...

Hip-Hop (i like hip hop, but i hate almost all current hip hop. if you want to post A Tribe Called Quest or GangStarr, be my guest. i like madvillain, stones throw, most hip hop from 85-95, i dont like tupac. Nas' Illmatic is one of the best albums of all time. all of his other albums are not. I dont have to like everything, but i dont want to hate anything thats posted here either... i hope you understand

unaccepted genres...

Trance
Techno
Radio Pop
Nu-Metal
Reggae

not that i dont like certain things from that list, i just dont want to get too into it... this blog is mostly about rock music... i'd rather see you post Guns and Roses appetite for destruction over Korn

I see that the idea of super-mega-monster-blog is rising again ;)

Thanks a lot for your invitation, blend, but I still think that I can't compare with all of you when talking about unique records you seem to have. And I'm afraid I'm not a designer, too :)

The other thing is that I don't feel like a good reviewer and, what's more, writing in english still happens to be a pain for me. As I think that blogging is all about giving more exposure to great music, I usually steal other people's words, although never forget about giving them credits and providing links to their sites. I justify myself that it's some kind of advertising better blogs and good magazines ;)

But of course I will be hanging around and if only I can help with anything just let me know. Good luck, boys! You can count me as your official fan no. 1!

And I think it's high time to cut (a bit) my downloading addiction and start updating my own humble blog. Thanks a lot for adding me to your links here, blend!

OK, let's get back to the music. Many thanks to pap and nick for all this stuff from Level Plane! It's a great label with many amazing releases so don't hesitate to post the rest you have :)

I start my own blogging bussiness from posting the split of Transistor Transistor and Light the Fuse and Run from Level Plane. Some of you know for sure that I'm a big fan of these two bands :) You can find this split and Transistor Transistor Erase All Name and Likeness full-length here.
