Life at These Speeds - s/t (2004)

Great album full of catchy, cathartic screamy punk hardcore. These guys are from Oregon, and while they certainly arent doing anything new, they definitely know how to do it. A little piano is thrown in from time to time, but most of the songs are full on ragers with all sorts of sections and parts through each song. Very reminiscent of mid 90's emo hardcore.

yea..my wife doesn't understand why I can't do ANYTHING w/o listening to music..I sleep with my ipod on so I won't bother her with the loudness.
It's nice to meet people who are similar.

I've just listened to the 2nd LATS' album and think that I enjoy it more than this one. But maybe I should give it a second chance?

My wife loves almost all the music as me, but she hates when I'm trying to listen to all this screaming and noisy stuff going to bed :) Hey, pap! Special thanks for Light the Fuse and Run from her! It's one of her lovely bands last times :)

I think I'm lucky. Even some of my friends don't listen to some harder stuff she likes ;) It's a shame but I must admit that she had discovered Hoover for herself before I got into it :)

Blend, I'll look for that Withstand CD. I think it's at my parents' house, and I just happen to be visiting them this weekend...so I'll dig through some boxes. If I find it, I'll post it for you Tuesday night when I return. I'll let you know either way.

I've just started listening to it, quality is decent but I have problems with 2 (of 8) songs. The archive was OK so maybe they will work for you better than for me...

and like your wife, papstar, my girl does not like any of this music... pretty much anything that uses distortion, screaming, speed, feedback or drone, she doesnt like.

i remember worlds fastest car. it was pre rival schools. i was living in nyc at the time and used to run into them all the time. cache from iceburn was on bass. he was living in a van out in front of my friends apartment i believe. total spicoli. hanging out in nyc with no shirt and no shoes, only wearing 70's era corduroy OP shorts. crazy ass kid. best bass player ever. anyway, worlds fastest car ended up not being anything. i dont think they ever got a decent lineup and then rival school started, or worlds fastest car turned into rival schools. something like that. cool this demo is making it around though. them russians have everything!

This Fields Lay Fallow album is really great!

It must be their 12'' LP titled One Hundred Days of High Rises (Lunchbox, 1997) but I cannot find any track titles yet. Highly recommended, anyway ;)

rcpunkarchive.com

"Here is a great site with a a ton of old videos from shows in Rapid City, SD. Bands like Chino Horde, Universal Order of Armageddon, Spirit Assembly, Frail, Still Life, Prozac Memory, Rorschach, Assfactor 4, Evergreen, Farside, Hoover, Jawbox, Single File Line, Up Front, Threadbare, Nation of Ulysses, and a lot more. The videos are all available for download, but they are full shows, so they are big files. Some of them are fantastic!"

Thank you for big upping flood. They are awesome guys. Barnburner definitely kicked my ass when I heard it for the first time a couple days ago.

As for LATS, I like "To Your Health" better. Some of the shit on there sounds like they're playing it like it might be the last thing they ever get to play. I own both though, cause Greg at Level Plane is kind to the children and had a deal where they both were like $15 together or something ridiculously good like that.
