Brainworms - Demo (2006)

This is NOT artwork for the demo. I lifted it from a tour poster and flopped around the type to make it a cover for the blog.

Brainworms are related to Ultra Dolphins. Brainworms is 4 fat guys and a skinny drummer. Brainworms are what emo hardcore would sound like if the band members were drunk. In fact, they may be drunk on this recording.

It is a live demo, so there is crowd noise but the soundis great, and I am having trouble placing the exact influences, and that is a good thing. It is fast, funny, and completely awesome. They have a number of things going on right now, inculding a cassette tape release, a 12" release, and a split 7" with Catalyst. The show pictures look like a lot of fun, and though I am not too into Ultra Dolphins, I think the Brainworms are gonna rule when they come out with their 12".

Get on it now, and check out the extra songs they have on myspace...Awesome!

haha! funny.

so Brainworms are from Richmond huh? Theres something about that place, the music that comes from there is usually very good, and also has a touch of humour which makes it even better..

of course I am biased because Avail is one of my favorite bands... but i dont think thats a bad criteria for judging things... the government uses far worse criteria for killing people.

hahah...very true

Yea avail and gwar..two of my favorites come from richmond....and gwar definitely uses some humor.

well..I haven't listened to gwar since 96 or so..so I don't know what their later albums sound like. but the first 4 were awesome

wow..I was looking to see when Brainworms were playing locally and I see this Different kind of dude fest that they are playing...look at this 2 day line up

Different Kind of Dude Fest will take place in Washington, DC this August 10 & 11! The fest will be $7 a day and $12 for both. And now there's yet another incentive to go to workshops--you'll get a dollar off admission to the fest!

FRIDAY AUG 10
Mass Movement of the Moth (DC)
Ampere (MA)
Des Ark (NC/DC)
Yo Man Go! (PA)
Daitro (FRANCE)
Brainworms (VA)
Dissystema (PA)

SATURDAY AUG 11
Circle Takes the Square (GA)
Off Minor (PA/NYC)
Aghast (VA/DC)
In First Person (NJ)
Pygmy Lush (VA)
Mouthbreather (VA)
Henry the Horse (MD)

Through workshops and discussions, DKDF aims to present an alternative to the self-indulgent dudedom of the average fest. We want to create a space for discussion of what masculinity means and how to be a responsible feminist ally.

This year, the fest will benefit HIPS (Helping Individual Prostitutes Survive) and Ubuntu NC.

Sad to know that Planes broke up :( Almost all the bands I love broke up long ago... but it's not my fault! Don't blame me!

But, you know, sometimes it's better to broke up... I know many bands that definitly should broke up and it's a shame that they don't do it ;)

Thanks for Children of Fall! I think I like this one better than the last full-length, so if you have the first, feel free to post it, too :)

And it seems like you gonna check Daitro live, pap... You are lucky! Have a good time, man!

Brainworms have actually had the lp/cd out for almost a year now. You can buy it from their label
www.rorschachrecords.net
or at other fine places like no idea and robotic empire.
