Clikatat Ikatowi - Demo

Clikatat Ikatowi - How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

1. Your spazziness is life affirming. Juggernaut of treble and razor sharp "Zing!"
2. Your angularity makes me nervous and exciteable, prone to bouts of pouncing, bearing my teeth.
3. Your Slintyness, oh so tense and soothing, slow burns, desert planes and sand in my shoes.
4. Your eruptive, dual nature of controlled chaos, limbs flailing wildly, grin, 1 mile wide.
5. Your icky sticky strange name, alien to me, like 6 legs, 8 legs and more, tickles the tongue on delivery of sound.
6. Your swagger, flying in the face of what punk is, at once embracing and eviscerating to the genre.
7. The way you jangle, sends shivers up my spine, burrowed into my cerebellum, release cold chills throughout my body.
7. Mario Rubalcalba, once a hero on 4 wheels, now a hero with 8 arms.

Know this: 4 Unreleased tracks, 3 later released on Orchestrated and Conducted by...Slinty tendencies are highly visible on the first two tracks, "Saxby's Gail" and "Meatho". "Librarian" is pure punk. "Off To Here" is the closest thing to a pop song they ever wrote. Close is still a million miles away, but peep the jangly, indie style guitars. The other three didnt change much from the originals. The recording is fairly decent. Enjoy.

Clikatat Ikatowi - Demo
1. Saxby's Gail
2. Meatho
3. Identity Crisis
4. Librarian
5. Off To Here
6. Transmission
7. Affirmation

* The cover art is not official. I took a pic from their myspace and cropped and gradient mapped it and added some typewriter text. Duly noted.

Just wrapped up a book called Radio Silence, Jeff Winterberg (Antioch Arrow) contributed some amazing photos including one of Clikatat complete w/Mario wearing an Infest shirt. So fucking rad.

The word I use to describe Clikatat music is letargic/drowsiness. Not because they are bored, NOT AT ALL, they rock. I mean, for example, when I walk through the streets hearing at them my mind goes blank, like a letargic state; as I were an expectator of a real life movie. Damn, I just want to improve my english to express myself better; maybe I'm talking bullshit, haha.

Is that the cover art?, I was looking for it! :P

Here's the recording of two shows in fireside bowl, chicago: "August 29 & 30 1995"

@ anthony, i have not heard of this book. sounds awesome! and you made it? I need something new to peruse. ^_^

@ francisco, i think i know what mean. its such a amazing mix of things, timing, styles, rhythms, tones and it's done so swiftly and tightly that it leaves me in awe. it has the capability of wiping clean the mental palette, so to speak.

thanks for the albums! I didnt have the live one and everyone who visits should be able to hear all three... or four, as it were..

the cover art is not official. i took a pic from their myspace and cropped and gradient mapped it and added some typewriter text. i should note that in the post.

if anyone has real artwork, please post a link for it. high quality would be nice, like the gravity website does with theirs. ^_^

@ francisco, thanks for the links. Will check them out.

@ papstar, damn! thats some list. though i think i have all of what i want on that. in fact, i recently realized that i have purchased Petitioning the Empty Sky three times now. Once in the 90's, the cd got damaged, once for the remaster, and then i bought the Petitioning Forever 2xLP because I love Aaron Turners artwork so much. That also means I purchased When Forever twice now... haha!! such a dork.

@ dwp, thanks man, i'll see you on Uobit

@ batguano, dammmmmn, that sounds like an amazing show!

@ weleasewoger72, thanks man, i would love to hear any decently recorded shows.

I have that August 29,30 1995 record, and totally prefer it over everything else. I wish I could have seen them live. I will check out this demo.

I live right by Klikatat street, and riding by always makes me want to hear them.

does he still skate professionally? my current favorite skater (even though I havent skated in about 4 years - and at that time sproadically) is Chris Haslam. Dude has ridiculous flow. I dont keep up with a lot of the pros these days though...

you have a great blog by the way.

Thanks man, I enjoy yours as well...

He doesn't skate professionally anymore but still skates just about everyday (killing it too). I worked with him for a while and he's pretty much an all around awesome guy. He's winning at life. I could talk about music with him for hours.
