Chino Horde LP
Another feel good hit of the summer. I admittedly was late to the Chino Horde party. Although I loved (and still do love Current) I somehow never really got around to listening to the Horde. I think others can probably pay better homage to this one than I can, but needless to say I have been rocking it out recently and I am falling in love with it and the song Arson is so great that everyone should just stop what they are doing and listen to it right now..
Chino Horde were somewhat similar to Current in sound although they threw a bit more of that good old rock and roll into the mix. Imagine rock and roll being played with the passion of Rites of Spring and you are damn near close to the unbridled splendor of this record.
I was looking up some info on Chino Horde and I came across the Towncraft website. It seems to be a sort of chronicle of the Little Rock, AR music scene and has some really good anecdotes of Chino Horde shows and other related topics from people that grew up there or travelled with the band. You should go check it out and listen to this record while you do.
Thats is all folks. Reflective moods and the slow descent of the summer into fall. Does anyone else feel it? The days get shorter.

One last thing. I am looking for the LP version of Stop It!! - Self Made Maps. It is OOP, but if any of you have it and are willing to part with it hit me up. I absolutely love the artwork on it and the CD packaging just doesnt do it justice. If any of you havent heard that record than you are missing out. Easily one of the best records of the past few years...

the chino horde lp is definitely a overlooked piece of the mid-nineties puzzle. as you mentioned the towncraft site has anecdotes about their short time together, it's also pretty well documented in the towncraft documentary which i continue to implore everyone who cares about this time period should definitely see the film. plus no one ever talks about how jason white plays guitar for green day now. c'mon.
i thought i had your stop it! request filled but it's the second record that just managed to show up here yeaterday as well as the first lumber 7" and the fieldtree 7" you know i scooped those. sometimes it's hard working in a record store.

Bis Auf Messer (a German punk label) is putting out the complete chino horde discogrpahy on double vinyl either this winter or in the spring.

Richard, thanks for the info, that is good news for people in Europe. Though if they dont have any domestic releases then I doubt I would pay double for it. So heres a suggestion for Bis Auf Messer. Find an american label to co-release it. ^_^

Not only was this a fantastic piece of wax but they were also a great band to see live. Thanks for putting it out there so I don't have to do it from the vinyl... Keep up the awesome work.

good luck on finding an american label to put it out, file thireteen has been sitting on the rights for years promising a rerelease of the discography for nearly ten years now. i have kind of given up hope on it coming out in the states and more than likely will throw as much cash as needed to procure a copy of a vinyl discography.
If its a vinyl disco, I may be up for the exorbitant pricing. If its CD then I will never purchase.

Chino Horde was really good live. I dont think it completely holds up recorded, some songs do though. I was way into the LR scene for a while. I think I had everything that came out of there for a couple of years. There was one band called 12.5 or 12'5 or something that i remember just put out a 7" that was pretty good. anyone know what i am talking about?
The one time Chino Horde (that i remember) played mpls was a hella sweet show. Current, Chino Horde and Rorschach. And a great almost fight between the sxe kids and the crusties who were smoking in the basement. Charles Maggio who had overcome cancer wasnt really having it. Oh a fun time in Mpls.

you are thinking of 12'6" (twelve foot six). they were from north little rock and had a seven inch on file 13.
i don't ever remember file thirteen promising anything regarding the re-release of the chino horde LP. and "rights" is kind of stretching it. there were no copyrights that i'm aware of, they just put out the record.
12'6 wasn't from north little rock, they were from little rock. big difference.

Did you know that Chino Horde were an American band formed in Little Rock, Arkansas twenty years ago.
