i'm going to be "that guy" and say that i think their 2nd 7" (the first record with jeremy singing) was their best thing they put out. haha...i always have to be "that guy." anyway, diary was amazing too. the first time i saw them they played in the basement of a building while drive like jehu played on the floor above them. it was a hard choice, but having seen jehu before, i stayed in the basement with 4 or 5 other folks and was fucking blown away by sdre. good times. good folks...until they "got wierd."
just listening to this album, awesome stuff...good time to say thanks for this blog. only recently discovered it, but the few albums i've downloaded have been awesome and resulted in at least one purchase so far. great idea to get people buying music aswell so yeah, just...thanks for running it and all the best for it with the future! i will post the second LP soon... it is equally goo in my opinion...
and @ apt 13... if you have thief steal me a peeach in mp3, PLEASE send it to me...i had a shitty tape dub that i have long since lost...those songs were great...
Here's an obscure '90s hardcore recording I'd love to find again: the first two sessions by Phleg Camp, before they recorded the Ya'red Fair Scratch LP. They were originally demo tapes; then some of the songs were released on a double 7". These guys were just an amazing funk-hardcore band, really intense rhythmic music, sort of like an evolution of the Beefeater/Fidelity Jones sound. The LP didn't quite do it for me, but those early demos are lost classics.
yeah ive got all that phleg camp stuff. its pretty amazing. and they were equally amazing live. the pre-LP stuff was great. it had a whole funky-soulside kinda vibe. the double 7" you speak of is the best thing they did. it is called "bully my pushy" and was released on allied. they also had a variety of 7"s and splits out as well before the LP. after the Lp they went into a countryish indie kinda vibe i just couldnt follow. i need to start my own fucking blahg. haha.

Thanks for re-posting this. It's such a gorgeous piece of music, and so hugely influential. And so sad.
