Jena Berlin - Quo Vadimus
Jena Berlin is a five-piece post-hardcore band out of Philly. I'm not really sure what post-hardcore means...but that is how they describe themselves. I would say that Jena Berlin are intense and relentless. I was first introduced to them on a mix tape a friend of mine made me recently. Since then I have scoured trying to find anything from them. They released their first Lp, 'Passion Waits as the Program Keeps Going', in 2005. This record is their second Lp and it is scheduled to come out sometime in August. If I was forced to come up with a comparison for this band, I would say Texas is the Reason, Boy Sets Fire, or maybe even Bear Vs Shark. Now they don't sound exactly like any of those bands, but the emotional vocals and technical music brings those bands to mind. Their live show is amazing from what I hear.

you know, this is pretty good. i like Bear vs. Shark alot and I can see the similarity in his vocals and some of the technical At The Drive in style guitars, but I feel like if you took all that and mixed it with a big dose of Jawbox we'd have this album right here...
so for me, im gonna say Bear vs Shark meets Post-Novelty Jawbox
I listened to this most of the night last night and it's growing on me. Their first lp took a bit for me to really like it too.

This album is amazing! Their previous LP was as well, but they really stepped it up on this one. And it doesn't hurt that they're the greatest dudes ever and deserve the best.
People need to know this band!
oh yeah! good to know that there are people exactly like that kind of music... i´m from berlin (hehe, apart of jena berlin :) ) and i will see them here in germany at the end of september! i´m really glad that they are on the way to europe right now! and i look forward to the upcoming ep! the new track on their site sounds amazing!
