zen and the art of mix tapes #007

Zen and the Art of Mix Tapes #007 This is a Test

courtesy of deaddreamnation who does some pretty awesome artwork.

"Most of these songs are songs stretching back for years that I have used on many a mix tape or gotten on mix tapes from others and quickly became my favorites...Mostly because at each moment in time, these songs reflected something important that was happening in my life...not just the words...more the feeling when listening to them."

2. American Steel - Every New Morning
3. Three Mile Pilot - The Open-Sided
4. Lincoln - Bench Warmer
5. Drive Like Jehu - Hand Over Fist
6. Strikeforce Diablo - Polymer On Parade
7. M Blanket - Coaster Brakes
8. Twelve Hour Turn - Little One
9. Car vs. Driver - Without a Day

Hey, i like the mix.
a) you have one of the best Shellac songs. It is pretty brutal.

b) drive like jehu. i don't have to say anything.

c)Hot Snakes. refer to (b).

c) ....trail of dead. damn.

Yeah. I am liking this. Plus Big Business is always good. If anyone hasn't seen them live, they really havent seen anything yet.

jaysin-

no shit on the big business. they are definitely destructive...i saw them once which was incredible, buti missed the show they played here with the melvins...which kills me after hearing the new melvins with them in the band. it was a sad sad day...thanks for posting a comment. i feel way less stupid now. :0

yeah shellac really changed my opinion when they released 1000 hurts...wasn't a big fan until i heard that record. prayer to god is one of the most raw, uncensored fuck yous to love that i have ever heard. and i love that man for it...plus all the random quotes you can use in everyday life is great to..."this isn't a metaphor...goddamn this is real!" fucking brilliant...i just got a copy of excellent italian greyhound and it is growing on me fast...

at action park is a solid shellac fave of mine. if you find yourself appreciating the newer stuff, you may want to dive back to action park, cuz it is raw, dirty and scathing...

Great mix...found it on Dead Dream Nation just before it was posted on Zen aswell =D

Just to say I always Prefered At Action Park by Shellac to their other stuff..every song just "had it" you know?It was probably cos it was the first album by theirs I got aswell but still, it's a great record!

sbj, like the mix... especially the American Steel (Jagged Thoughts is probably one of my favourite albums, and it's nice to see a band crop up here which I listen to yet isn't necessarily typical of the ZenFace canon... sorry blend, that's a pretty ridiculous phrase but you know what I mean!... yeah I love punk!) and the Sweep the Leg Johnny (just got that album a week ago, really like it... just a coincidence that I put some StLJ in the middle of my mixtape too!).

blend, apologies for the various difficulties with my mixtape... I had good intentions but it was bad timing on my part (my vacation was really good, thanks... pretty hardcore mountain-walking for the most part, might try and work it into a HfN post!).

I guess I'll have to re-up the package... I think it has expired... am I ZaTAMT #007 or #008? Don't mind really, but your release schedule needs continuity, man! I left my blurb in the previous comments, think you found that... any more problems, just email me (address on my sidebar)

Cheers, Gabba (back from Wales)
