...:::RADIO SILENCE:::...

If anyone here hasnt not heard of this books existence yet, than now is the time to pay attention.

Radio Silence - A Selected Visual History of American Hardcore Music, by Nathan Nedorostek and Anthony Pappalardo, was released very recently and I want to take this moment to let all of you know that it is thus far the definitive hardcore book in existence. It is chock full of amazing photographs, album art and tees and is presented in a very slick style that is reminiscent of the similarly awesome Banned In DC book.

Peppered throughout the pages are ruminations, stories and ideas as told by the people that were involved when this was all going down. You can hear Adam Nathanson (Born Against) talk about the Sick Of It All debate and how he flier bombed a SOIA show. You can hear Sean Brown talk about his time in Swiz, Matt Anderson (Heroin) and Jeff Winterberg (Antioch Arrow) discuss the San Diego scene and the rules that arose as a way to present themselves.

There are so many great photos from so many time periods including amazing shots of the NYHC shows in the mid to late 80's, early DC hardcore, mid 90's new school hardcore and revival bands and of course the previously mentioned San Diego scene of the early 90's.

Click the cover above and head to amazon to purchase the book for a very good price. Trust me. This is highly worth having in your personal library. I received my copy a few weeks ago and recently brought it upstate with me to a weekend in the woods and my friends Glenn (who has a number of photos in the book), Steve, Joe and Chris repeatedly perused its awesome pages.

Check these images for a little taste. They all blow up bigger if you view the image.

For those of you in NYC and the surrounding areas, there are two nights of openings going on. There is a release party TONIGHT! with Mind Eraser playing and music and free beer. Tomorrow there is a gallery opening, also with free beer, and blow ups of photos from the book. I will definitely be at the gallery opening on saturday, so come by, pay your respects to a movement that has most definitely shaped a little bit of all of us. And say hi to me too! ^_^

There are also some openings going on in the Los Angeles area, so head to the Radio Silence site and check out all the info and other interesting things that they have going on there.

But first and foremost, consider purchasing this book. You wont regret it.

The Swarm a.k.a. Knee Deep In The Dead

I am dedicating this post to my friend Sean. Thanks for raising my awareness to these guys. If not for them, by extension of you, I would surely have a serious fucking meltdown today.

I am feeling kind of sick and disgusted of everything these days. I hate our government. I hate the greed of this nation. I hate our economy. I hate our news. I hate so much and I dont have any better answers. Not ones that can be taken seriously at least.

Whats a person to do when everything seems to just get worse?

Listen to The Swarm.

So in honor of being pissed off at the world and taking life way too seriously on a Thursday morning... here is a 7" that makes me feel like I am not alone.

Big ups to Papst Benedikt XVI from Am I Mean? Another person who just cant hate enough.

Seriously. Fuck the world.

Stick my dick in the dirt.

And big "ups!" to xjustinx from x43x for the Force Fed Glass split.

Also massive props to all the rest of you guys. You are the best people I have ever met on the internet. Sorry things have been slow and promises have been hollow.

I will make amends for the site. The world? well thats a different story...
